Description

Reading Rockets Mini Basketball Programmecropped-Rockets-logo-largetransparent.png

The clubs Mini Basketball programme is specifically designed for young players between the age of 4-12. Each session is aimed at developing each and every child on their physical development as well as their basketball knowledge and skills.

Mini Basketball prepares children for a sporting lifestyle as part of their overall education and as an introduction to the sport of basketball. By modifying the basketball rules to suite the child we cater for the individual at an appropriate level for their physical ability, mental development and social maturity.

The mini basket coaches will deliver fun, energised sessions for the children whilst using a variety of games to teach them the game of basketball whilst also developing key multi skills.

The young players will learn in a fun environment whilst also learning respect and fair play whilst making some cool new basketball friends!

BE-minibbFun For All

A child’s first experiences of playing a new game are often the deciding factor of whether they decide to continue in the game.

Our aim is to ensure that players, teachers, coaches and parents all enjoy a positive experience when they are first involved in organised competitive mini-basketball. We also need to ensure this enthusiasm continues as they go on to play basketball.

Mini Basketball Groups

Micro Ballersmb1

This caters for children from reception through to year 1. At this age group we focus on basic agility, balance and coordination skills through fun engaging games. Small sided competitive games are introduced with a real focus on having fun and working together. Competition is provided within the session as they play in small sided games each week.

mb2Mini Ballers

This caters for children from year 2 through to year 5. At this stage key skills continue to be developed whilst they are progressed and challenged. Further team work elements are introduced as they move on to playing 3v3 basketball. Competition is provided at this level through inter club tournaments where players compete in 3v3 cross court games.

Mighty Ballersmb3

This caters for children from year 6 to year 7. At this stage skills continue to be progressed and developed and now practised at speed. Competition is experienced through both inter club tournaments and local central venue leagues. Players now compete in 4v4 cross court basketball where further team play is developed.
